Approximately twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems swept through the state, generating powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.

Large Hailstones and Widespread Damage

Locals witnessed giant hailstones as large as seven centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

At the height on Sunday, in excess of 28k energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk expected across different parts of both states.

Safety Concern

Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, specifically given the current weather patterns.

This caution comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to significant health impacts in the area.
